Fresh Apple Cake

I have been making this cake for years. I usually make several when the apples
are ripe to freeze for Thanksgiving.

Heat oven to 325 degrees. Cook for approximately 1 hour and 20 mins.

Cake Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts
3 cups flour
3 cups diced raw apples
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla

Blend oil and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Add salt,
soda, cinnamon and baking powder to flour. Add to mixture. Add vanilla. Fold in
apples, raisins and nuts. Oil and flour tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for up to
1 hour and 45 mins.

Sauce:
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 stick margarine
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda

In a saucepan, combine sauce ingredients. Bring to a rapid boil for 2 mins. Pour
over cake in pan while cake is hot. Let cake cool before removing.
